The new Headquarters for Riggs CAT replaced a 50 year old building with a new energy efficient, light filled structure, and converted the campus’ oldest adjacent warehouse into a modern training center. Designed with an expressive steel structure that reflects the Miesian sensibility of the existing 1950’s warehouse and forms reminiscent of large earth moving equipment, the buildings are intended to act as large open sheds, oriented to bring in the most natural light possible. Open stairs and upper “catwalks” link all employees together, while a floating, glass ended boardroom allows visual connection to leadership from below.
