Polk Stanley Wilcox Architects is excited to participate in the grand opening of the new Independence County Library and hear Governor Asa Hutchinson speak in the historic Barnett Building in downtown Batesville, Arkansas. It is amazing how thoughtful design interventions at any budget can transform an empty building into a living room for a community while maintaining its historic integrity. At 22,000 sf, the library is nearly five times larger than the former space, and adds a cafe and sitting steps for community events and story time for kids. We love the children area’s colorful reading nooks tucked under the stairs, which make reading even more fun. Congratulations to our PSW team of Laura Stanley, Morgan Balmer Holmes, David Rogers, Jim Thacker, and Joe Stanley, and our friends in Batesville!
