The Cornerstone Medical Building is a 43,081 sf, two story new construction facility located just north across the street from the Baptist Medical Center in west Little Rock, near the I-630 corridor and the Big Rock Exchange. The primary tenant is the Cornerstone Clinic for Women who occupies 19,000 sf on the first level. This is one of the oldest clinics for women in the central Arkansas region. Their seven Doctors and Professional staff have programmed a cutting edge “patience focus” concept of flow, treatment, and care for the whole family. The spa-like atmosphere represents the two sides of their growing practice – one for mostly obstetrics, and the other for gynecology. The design team brought in biophilic references to ease tensions and nerves while waiting. The colors are “beachy” and soothing. Bold wall graphics provide a focal point to each waiting area as well as a point of conversation. The physicians wanted the space to ”wrap around you like a cocoon”; hence, the design team’s response by implementing curvilinear elements into the overall design. PSW also created a unified space throughout in addition to providing a separate identity to the two clinic sides. The client requested better work flow for staff and a patient experience that would allow clients to feel well cared for and pampered, without repeating steps to various areas of the clinic. There are multiple ultrasound rooms, a mother’s room and lab all onsite, as well as three procedure rooms. Multiple restrooms were provided to alleviate a pain point from their previous clinic location. Providing the two waiting areas also allows for greater sensitivity.
