Market Square South is a unique student housing and retail center that recalls the classic design model of living above places of work, while connecting “town to gown”, college to community. Positioned as the final building on the Market Square’s great lawn in the Villages at Hendrix, the building is modeled after post World War II town square architecture of clean lines and crisp detailing, featuring a 50’s themed soda shop/restaurant that anchors the corner. 44 students live in primarily single dorm rooms on two floors above retail, grouped by academic focus to foster bonding in an experiential living and learning environment. Bedrooms open to a Community Room that can be used for living, group study, and meetings, while allowing conferences in the summer when students are away. The residences focus on the student family, the friendships formed through community interaction, and the memories made that last a lifetime.
